The Pet Clinic
The Pet Clinic was established in 1978 by Dr. Don Burrough, DVM. Dr. Michael Whatley, DVM, graduated from Mississippi State University School of Veterinary Medicine and began work at the clinic in 1991. He is now the sole owner.
Doctors and staff work together daily to keep your canine and feline family members happy and healthy. The Pet Clinic offers several services including vaccinations, spays, neuters, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and pet supplies. Give us a call and schedule your appointment today!
Elanka Jayasundera, DVM
"Dr J" Elanka Jayasundera DVM, a Hot Springs native, graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Since then, she practiced companion animal medicine in VA for 4 years before returning home. From 2004-2016 she practiced small animal medicine in Hot springs Village then created her veterinary housecall business and provided relief veterinary services to several clinics in the greater Hot Springs area. Dr Jayasundera has a special interest in practicing basic veterinary dentistry, dermatology, and palliative care. In some of her free time, "Dr J" also volunteers to serve the homeless and under privileged through the Warming/Cooling center and CCMC.
Dr. Aubrey Miller
Dr. Miller grew up in Hot Springs, AR and developed an interest in veterinary medicine by middle school. She began assisting at The Pet Clinic in 2017 on her summer breaks from college and later attended Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. This led to a position as a veterinarian at The Pet Clinic after graduating in 2024. She has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and gastroenterology, but she enjoys the variety of cases she gets to see at The Pet Clinic. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, reading, music, and hiking.
Dr. Katherine McKnight
Dr. Katherine McKnight was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in biological science at Mississippi State University and then continued on to graduate from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Hot Springs and has been an associate veterinarian at The Pet Clinic for almost 10 years. Her professional interests include dermatology, endocrinology, and pain management. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, reading and anything outdoors.
